ready to go cruising

63 chevy interior

Christmas day 2012

here it is christmas again.  i swear the older i get the faster they come. looking back on this past year, we sure had a good time at the shows and cruises. we made a lot of new friends and spent time with our old friends.we put over 4000 miles on the 54 sedan including a 675 mile round trip to a show in tennessee. every event was unique in its own way. we hope to go to as many or more this year.we have the 54 sedan--the 54 coupe and the 63 chevy ready for the road. the nova wagon is under construction now and should be ready sometime this next year. i'm going to post some progress pictures of the fleet. merry christmas and happy new year. till next time

1954 coupe ready for final assembly

all painted up and ready for finishing touches

1963 fairlane wagon as purchased

london kentucky show 2012

summertime in kentucky

we have had a very hot summer this year but that hasn't stopped us from going to a bunch of car shows. the 54 sedan has held its own in the judging and we have had a ball driving and cruising the car all over the place. in the meantime i have been working on the rest of the fleet and things are going well. we purchased a 1963 fairlane station wagon to add to the collection and it dorsn't need a lot to be on the road but will have to wait its turn. i got the 1963 belair painted and it will be getting upholstered in the next couple of weeks. the 1954 coupe is in the shop and will be painted before cold weather hopefully.we hope to have at least 3 cars to take to shows next year. i guess time will tell. until next time.

trish's wagon project

show season has started

we have already been to a few shows this year and had a great time. it sure is nice to see all our car friends again after a long winter. everybody loves the new color on the 54 sedan. i sold the 74 nova a little while back and have been working hard on the 63 chevy to try and finally finish it. i'm getting pretty close on the bodywork and should be able to get it painted sometime this summer.
trish has been wanting a station wagon for years and recently we finally found one. this will be her cruise car and will be done to her specifications. it's a 1965 nova and will make a great cruiser when we get it done. however it will have to wait tis turn until i get the 63 finished.
   until next time

ready to go cruising

cruise season is coming

besides painting the 54 ford sedan i made a lot of updates to the rest of the car too. i now declare it ready for the coming show season. we're going to try to attend more shows this year to show off our car. i'm also working on a display to use at larger shows. and of course we'll be doing a lot more waxing and cleaning. i sent it out to be color sanded and buffed and the guy did a terrific job. he made a good paint job look even better.
i just finished with the first coat of primer on the nova and will be painting it in the next couple of weeks. i sure hope it turns out as good as the ford did. until next time

nice little car

1974 chevy nova

a couple of weeks ago i ran into a deal that i just couldn't pass up. this one is to be our everyday driver and occasional cruiser. it's a 1974 chevy nova that i got from an estate. the gentleman that owned it bought the car new and it only has 48k miles on it. it's a basic car with the six cylinder engine and manual transmission. it should be a gas saver for running to the grocery. i haven't started on it yet so that will have to wait till i get some more time.

totally different look

almost done with the sedan

while my nephew james was going hard on the coupe i was working hard on the sedan to get it repainted. while the last version of the car was sorta the retro look this time i wanted a more modern look to enhance the beautiful body lines of the car. i think i acheived the look i was after but i have a lot of finishing touches to do before it's ready to go.

after a lot of priming and block sanding

down to bare metal

1954 coupe

really i have too many hotrods to build all at once so i managed to convince my nephew to do the bodywork on the 54 coupe project. doing this freed up my time somewhat so i could concentrate on repainting the 54 sedan. he is getting along well on the coupe bodywork so there is a slight chance it will be on the road sometime this year.

another trophy day

got a trophy

wow has it been that long

i can'tbelieve it has been almost a year since i've updated this blog. i've either been real busy or real lazy or maybe some of both. i've had a lot going on these last few months but not all of it has been car related. we did manage to go to a few shows last year and did quite well considering the paint on the sedan had gotten in bad shape. that has been taken care of now but i'll get to that in another post.
